AFCON trophy has been reported, gone missing (Africa Cup Of Nations)
The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy has been reported gone, missing which is suspected to have been stolen in Cairo Headquarter from the Egyptian Football Association (EFA).The Former Vice-president of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) and the ONTime Sports broadcaster, Ahmed Shobir, confirmed that the Africa Cup of Nations trophy has gone missing from the headquarters of the EFA in Cairo.
"While EFA started looking for some trophies as they aim to assembly all in a notable museum inside the EFA," Ahmed Shobier disclosed.
"However, the EFA was amazed to find out that the AFCON trophy was missing and so decided to open an investigation concerning the missing trophy.
"However, it was brought into their attention by an employee inside the association that it was held by former Egypt captain Ahmed Hassan who refuted this claim. Nobody knows where is the trophy at the time being."
Although, according to Hassan, he kept the trophy at home after winning the Africa Cup of Nations title in 2010 and gave the trophy back to the Egyptian Football Association in 2011.
Captain Ahmed Hassan was the national team's captain in 2008 in Ghana and 2010 in Angola
